Notes on the piano – Being able to identify the notes on a piano is essential to understanding music theory concepts. Notes on the piano are determined by their relationship to the black notes. The black notes are the #’s ad b’s (although some white notes are #’s and b’s). Consider the possible notes – ABCDEFG, A# B# C# D# E# F# G#, Ab, Bb, Cb, Db, Eb, Fb, Gb. Enharmonic Notes are notes that are the same pitch but have different note names – A# and Bb, D# and Eb, E# and F. Look at the piano image below and identify the enharmonic notes.
